Extended Practice Possible Brief 6

I've found this brief by the Folio Society and House of Illustration for the book War Horse, The brief is to design 3 scene illustrations and a wraparound cover that would be printed on to a cloth cover. This is an ideal brief to do as over the course of the year I really wanted to have a go at doing some book illustrations, My only concerns are that the brief has to be in by mid January around the same time as my dissertation and with the comic proposal brief and the prints for Thought Bubble in mid November it would be hard to fit this brief in as well before christmas.

Extended Practice Comic Brief Update

While I was at home I met up with Ewan Moore the writer for my comic and we started to make lists of our ideas and agreed on the broad strokes of our comic, I've set up a shared Google Docs file that we can both edit and add to to share ideas easily and this can be used as a quick way of sending each other information about the comic. We've also decided to work towards a pitch for our comic to begin with for Thought Bubble and then after COP we'll come back to the project and produce the entire first issue of the comic.

Extended Practice Possible Brief 5

I really want to design a poster for the film The Damned United, This would probably be a smaller brief I'd do. This could become a responsive brief if Film Doo decide to run there competition to design a film poster again. I want to really capture the loneliness of Brian Clough in the film and I think this could lead to a unique poster.

Extended Practice Possible Brief 4

This brief is one that I've wanted to do for a while, I want to design some football shirts. I've identified possible places these illustrations could appear in, publications such as Rabona or Soccerbible. I think this project also adds some variation to my portfolio and could lead to some really interesting results.

Extended Practice Possible Brief 3

My third possible brief is another collaborative brief this time with another student on the graphic design course, We've decided to produce a set of football program designs. We were originally going to produce a football card game but problems came up with the product, I might come back to that brief though as I think it still has potential. It think the football program designs could be a really good project as I think this is similar to a brief I could be working on after leaving uni and working with a graphic designer could be a really good experience.

Extended Practice Possible Brief 2

My second brief is going to be a collaboration with one of my friends who is a writer, we've decided to collaborate on a comic book. This will probably be one of my major briefs for the year, this brief will probably be done in two stages. I've identified that at Though Bubble Image Comics do crit sessions for your comic with editors this could be a great opportunity and could even lead to a publishing deal admittedly that's very unlikely, This would mean we need to do at least 5 pages a cover and have our story sorted by mid November alongside producing work for Thought Bubble. After that the second part of the brief is producing the full comic but this will come after doing the proposal. I'm meeting Ewan on Monday so after that I'll know more details about this brief.

Extended Practice Possible Brief 1

My first brief of the year is probably going to be producing work for Thought Bubble, This is going to be important as the work will need to be produced for early November but I need to make sure I leave enough time to screen print my work. I need to talk to Tom who I'm sharing a table with about what he's producing and how much room we'll have, the work produced will more than likely be fan art as this is what sells best at thought bubble from my research.
