This is the final cover for my A Clockwork Orange cover I'm really happy with how it turned out I'm still not 100% happy with the text on the cover, but I think this is a really interesting piece for my portfolio and is miles away from what I'd usually produce.

Extended Practice The Less I know the Better
This is the cover I did for the Tame Impala song I tried to keep it really simple like the Clearest Blue cover I find this really challenging but i think the cover is fairly succesful but nowhere near as succesful as Chvrches.
Extended Practice Secret 7" Cover Clearest Blue
This is a cover I produced for Clearest Blue by Chvrches, I'm really happy with how it turned out and it's really interesting because this is completely opposite to how I'd usually work the simplicity of the bold shapes works really well for this cover. The only problem is this is taking a lot longer than I initially expected and with my sports work becoming more important I feel this brief is dropping by the wayside.

Extended Practice Dele Alli Final
This is the final illustration for the England Poster, I'm really happy with how it's turned I think it's possibly the best piece of illustration I've ever done. I took all the elements that had worked well on the Gotze image but they seem to have some together much better on the image than they did on the last one. I used the leaked version of the new England kit to work from but as soon as the new kit is fully revealed I'll change the design to fit that. I plan on taking this method of working forward into my Adidas illustrations for Studio Brief 9.
Extended Practice Everton Cover Rough
This is the rough for the Everton cover, I used the Liverpool layout that Matt sent me as all the major elements will be in the same position on each cover. I mainly used the layout to check the scale of the figure was right and that the hand didn't stray too far to the left.
Extended Practice Rough Coutinho Colour
This is a rough colour idea I came up with for the Coutinho cover I really like this illustration and think the simplicity of the colour works really well and I feel that the circles really help tie the image together.
Extended Practice Programme Cover Layout
This is the layout Matt sent me for our final programme covers, I'm really happy with how it's turned out and it'll be much stronger once I've done the final illustration for it this week. I think we're also going to try adding some background elements and create one with an inverted colour scheme for European matches.
Extended Practice Nike Tech Book Contextual Research
When I was doing my research for this project I started to look at the difference between the marketing for Adidas and Nike, I was looking at the apps they had available on the app store and Adidas is way behind Nike. I found this app called the Tech Book which showcases Nike's newest innovative products and biggest sponsorships. As one of my proposed outcomes it could be interesting to try and create something similar from the imagery for the window displays.

Extended Practice Adidas Mbroidered Contextual Research
I found these advertisements done in a vintage Adidas style by Mbroidered, I really like these and the way that he uses photographed elements in his work this is something I want to begin to look at bringing into my work within this module. I want to look at the Kanye West Adidas collaboration as part of this project as well because I feel it plays a big part in Adidas' brand appeal.
Extended Practice Poster Developed Gotze
These are the two final versions of the Gotze piece I sent to Matt for the posters, I'm really happy with how the image has turned out and the initial line drawing has transitioned very well to the digital version. i feel the shirt in particular works very well. I sent him two version one with a black outline and one without, I feel that the one without the outline could get lost in the background of the poster is the background stays white.
Extended Practice Roughs from Matt
Matt initially sent me these two rough designs for the posters, we both felt that the image with the text at an angle didn't work so we decided to start to develop the image on the left. I suggested that we should make the word france more prominent and we might need to incorporate some background elements so the designs don't look too plain.
Extended Practice Developed Poster Linework
This is the final line work for my Euro 2016 posters, I think the line work is a lot stronger than the fine liner work for Studio Brief 9, I feel the scale also really suits the media. I did these images at A2 and it is close to the scale they will be on the final posters, I'm going to scan them in and add digital colour next.
Extended Practice Focus
After my crit with Fred I was told that I shouldn't just focus on football which I'd begun to do with the project even though it's not what I set out to do. I've started to do more research into other Adidas products the ones I've been looking at are Ultra Boost running trainers and their Basketball products, I feel the football imagery has been a good start.
I feel that rather than setting out to create a window display I should start out by just creating imagery around the teams and products and then to let the outcomes come naturally, one of the things i really want to have a go at making are shoe boxes and presentation boxes for the shirts.

Extended Practice Developed Imagery
This is my first go at starting to develop some more refined imagery for this brief and while I'm happy with the drawing I don't think they'd work very well on a larger scale, I think I'm going to go back to working with a brush pen as I feel it's more scaleable than fine liner drawings.
Extended Practice German National Team Development
This is the initial line work for my German piece I feel that the composition works at the moment but will be even better once the line work is developed and I start to add in some bolder shape elements. I'm going to print this line work and then work over the top of it in traditional media as I did in my COP work.
Extended Practice German National Team Boards
I decided that the German national team was the first team that I would try to develop a more resolved piece for, I felt that this was the logical starting point as Adidas is a German company and the national team is probably their most prominent sponsorship. I'm really happy with how the design is looking and I tried to keep it vaguely symmetrical in a similar way to my last design. All the players featured within the design are sponsored by Adidas and I looked at the ones they use more prominently in their marketing at featured them at the front of the design.
Extended Practice AC Milan Juventus Idea
This was my first go at creating a design for the window displays, I split the design by 3 so on the left board there's AC Milan and on the right is Juventus whilst in the middle there's probably the teams two most prominent players Bacca and Morata. I was looking at how to incorporate background elements into the initial designs, each player will be on a different layer to the elements behind them.
I had a quick go at laying out some of the design elements in photoshop, this gave me a better idea of how well the design would work once the players had been layered into the designs.
Extended Practice A Clockwork Orange Development
After the last design for the cover I went right back to basics and after looking at paper cut for my work on Secret 7" I decided to do a very simple monotone paper cut design. I think this design really makes the type stand out which is very important for the cover, I feel it is a little bit plain though and I think it just needs something more I might have a go at splattering some ink across the bottom of the front cover in the same orange as the type. I really wanted to develop a clean design for this cover as I feel that's what Penguin tend to go for with their book designs, i do feel that the type needs a little bit more work though.
Extended Practice A Clockwork Orange Initial Ideas
After reading A Clockwork Orange I was really struggling with what to do for the cover as I felt that all my ideas were coming from the film version which I'd previously seen. I think it's really important to avoid the cliched imagery for this cover.
I did this image very quickly, I was looking at how to incorporate some different imagery into the project but I feel that this is awful and I went straight back to the drawing board after doing this.

Extended Practice Adidas 16.1 Window Displays
This is the first Adidas window display that I've looked at, I think I'd like this if I liked the boots they're advertising more. I think as a piece of advertising I think it works really well but the boots themselves are a disgusting colour which is a problem when the entire display is based around them. Again the use of lighting is a big thing within this display so it's something I should be looking to take advantage of.

Extended Practice Contextual Research Nike PSG
I saw this article today about the window displays for the PSG 3rd kit, done by Bonsoir Paris for Nike. I think the way they've displayed the kit is really good and fits with the ethos of this kit, I think they could have done something slightly more interesting withe background of the window displays though.
This is starting to make me think about how I would light my window displays and how the kits will be shown. I want to incorporate a lot of 3-d elements within my proposals for the displays, the thumbnails I'm working on at the moment are all done in 2-d but the designs are quite heavily layered so they will adapt well to a 3d space.

Extended Practice Big Kahuna Possible illustrations
For my big Kahuna I decided to start of much in the same way I did for my COP project, I'm going to make a list of possible illustrations based around the subject of Adidas.
- Euro 2016, This was my first idea for an illustration and where my project originated from, I originally looked at this as an extension of studio brief 10 but I will be looking to focus on the adidas sponsored players and it's more about advertising than that brief. This will focus on Germany, Belgium, Spain and Wales.
- Bundesliga, as Adidas is a german brand and to add to the worldwide audience of the brief I thought it would be a good idea to focus on the German league for a set of boards, These illustrations will focus on Bayern Munich, Leverkusen and Schalke.
- Champions League, This is the biggest european competition and is also sponsored by Adidas. It would be silly not to produce boards for this, It features all of Europe's biggest clubs and almost all of the big adidas sponsored teams will be there. I will also potentially be looking at doing some europa league boards. The teams the CL boards will focus on will be Real Madrid, Chelsea, Man Utd, Bayern Munich, Juve, Benfica and Lyon.
- MLS, The MLS is completely sponsored by Adidas so it seems like the logical place to produce an illustration for and is also an emerging market as the MLS starts to become more popular in the US. I will be looking to capitalise on this momentum and the addition of some established stars such as Pirlo, Gerrard and Lampard. I will need to do more research for this brief though as my knowledge of the MLS isn't the best.
- Ace, X and the Messi, These are the current boot silos Adidas produce they each have their signature player, The Ace is Ozil which will more than likely change to Pogba when he signs an Adidas sponsorship. The X is Bale, Muller and Suarez whilst the Messi is specifically designed shockingly for Lionel Messi. These boots could work as a set of boards between the or within their own right.
- Women's football, I'd also like to do some boards focussed on Women's football as I think this is also an emerging market, Adidas also regularly releases exclusive colour ways for Women's boots and this could lead to some interesting work. I'd need to do some research into their sponsorship deals though as I don't know them as well as the men's sponsorships.
These are all football focused I feel it's important not to just focus on football as it's very much a European market and I need to look at how to extend the brief into something more internationally focussed.
- Yeezy Season 3, On Febuary 14th Kanye will release his new album and clothing line, This is becoming a major part of Adidas' street wear brand and I think this will make a great set of boards for a window display.
- Adidas Originals, This is a much more general set of boards as the Originals brand doesn't really have one look or sport it's aimed at but is probably the street wear arm of Adidas' brand. It also features collaborations with people such as Pharell and Rita Ora which could be interesting to produce work for.
- Ultra boost, I think this trainer has become the cornerstone of the revival of Adidas' brand, it started out as their flag ship running trainer but has also become a big part of their street wear due to people like Kanye West championing them. I think capturing the running and street side of these shoes could lead to some really interesting boards.
- NBA, The NBA is sponsored by Adidas and it produces all their kits like they do for the MLS, I do not know much about the NBA so I'll need to do a lot of research for this one I feel it will be very valuable in globalising this project as Basketball is huge in America and this will give me an inroad to the American audience.
- NFL, Like the NBA the NFL is a huge market in America I will be looking to take advantage of this and look at making a set of boards focussing on this, Like the NBA I'll need to do a lot of research to get my head around the sponsorships but I feel there is a lot of room to produce work.
