This was my initial drawing for my piece I decided to make it as detailed as possible to make working on the final piece as easy as possible. Early on I decided I wanted to base this piece on a musician but I didn't want to do just another guitar band, so I decided to focus on someone who had a unique look and was interesting to draw so I decided on Janelle Monae and looked on Flickr for rights free reference images to use. When I finished this sketch I was thinking about sending it in as my final piece because I was so happy with how it turned out but I decided to push on and if the final piece didn't work out I could always send this as there aren't any guidelines as to what the work should be that you send in.
